Work

2020-Present: Freelance Web Designer at DavidWelsh.net

As of 2020 I have decided to start working freelance as a web designer to put my passions to work in a way that can create a lifestyle that I can feel satisfied with. Designing web content has always been a passion from early in my computer career. I feel it is time to start this next chapter of my life.

2016-2018: Developer at M & Co

M&Co the clothes retailer set some new challenges in working with old systems that were converted to C# technology. It also meant getting the opportunity to re-write some of these systems using web technologies such as the Angular (2.0, / 4.0) framework.

In between development, a lot of time was spent on administrating database systems, and writing solutions to automate common issues that may have occurred.

2012-2016: Junior Developer at Skillweb

Working at Skillweb was my first role after University. I was granted an excellent opportunity to work on my own solo project creating a Proof of Delivery app using the cross-platform tool Phonegap. We released to both Android and Apple stores. Later then working as part of a small team to create a newer version using the Xamarin cross-platform toolset.

2006-2009: Technical Support at Burness LLP

Working to ensure the desktop systems, servers, mail systems, and media equipment are all in working order. Dealing with the daily jobs of the in-house servicedesk. Providing user training for new-starts.

2001-2005: Technical Support at Faculty of Advocates

After finishing college with a Computing HND, I started my computer career as a technical support technician supporting the Advocates, and Advocates clerks. It was a challenging role in that support was given to personal laptops of any hardware and software combination, with a lot of pressure for quick turn-around fixes.

Education

2009-2012: First Class Software Engineering BEng (Hons)

Qualified with a first class honours degree in Software Engineering from Bradford University in England. Writing a final year project as a full-stack .net C# website.

1997-2000: HND PC Support

Straight out of high school and on to begin my computer studies at Forth Valley College in Falkirk.
